Chinese Dizi Virtual Instruments. Dizi is a Chinese transverse flute-like instrument made of the bamboo trunk. Unlike similar instruments, Dizi has a bulrush-made membrane that vibrates with airflow, making up its uniquely clear and bright sound. Dizi is an incredibly expressive instrument. Besides its smooth and beautiful melodic parts, Dizi can be played with a rich set of performances, such as rapid finger-popping, tongue-flutter, and airflow vibrato, allowing Dizi to play the most complex solo parts. There are two major variants of Dizi: Qudi (literally melodic Dizi), which is usually used for playing solo works as the primary instrument of complex work, and it is what we present here in Whisper of Loong; and Bangdi (literally opera Dizi), with its very bright sound, is usually served as the accompanying instrument of traditional Chinese opera.

‘Anatolian Mey’ contains professionally played and recorded melodies ready to take your musical experience to the next level! The Mey is a Turkish folk instrument of the wind type with a kaval type body which consists of three parts: the main body, the reed and the grip. The clips mounted to the end of the reed and can be pushed up and down on the reed and thus enabling tuning by providing one note variation in the sound. It has a total of eight melody keys with seven on top and one underneath. In detail expect to find 557 MB of raw content featuring 90 beautifully played Mey loops at 90/110/130 BPM and includes a dry version (w/o any additional e.q, compressor or reverb effects) and wet version of each, giving a total of 180 files. All loops are Key and tempo labeled for ease of use. All sounds are ready to fit straight in your tracks.

We are excited to present our new Book Series product: Chalumeau, with True Legato articulation and a unique warm and folk tone. “The chalumeau is a single-reed woodwind instrument of the late baroque and early classical eras. The chalumeau is a folk instrument that is the predecessor to the modern-day clarinet.” The instrument we used was handmade by the great artisan and flute maker Max Brumerg with Cherry Tree Wood. We sampled Vibrato and Non Vibrato Legato, Staccato and more than 50 phrases.

Warm Bassy Plucks

The Gimbri is a three-stringed skin-covered bass that originated in Morocco. It is actually a lute that produces rich deep but also somewhat harsh and earthy tones through its wooden body and goat gut strings. Often compared to a bass guitar, the gimbri brings deepness into the music with its low dynamic range. The main focus was to capture different articulations of the Gimbri while keeping its organic feeling and warm sound. Traditionally played with the fingers, we recorded it muted, with a plec and through an amp to ensure a wide variety of tones. It comes with five presets, while the possibility of custom settings is kept open.
