There is hardly any other category of instruments that has more instruments and sounds than vintage synthesizers. That’s why it was a great pleasure and at the same time an obligation for us to show how our approach to these old treasures is and in which way we implement them. And since we have so many old milestones standing around here, it was somehow logical, too. The ‘Warm Strings’ is a category of their own. We made a sound out of it. We took the sounds of super-skilled synthesizers like the Yamaha CS-60, the Juno 60 or other analog synthesizers and made a huge string patch that sounds like infinity. Then we added a little bit of filters, phasers and other little things and the ultimate velvet sound is ready.

Warmifier is a special plug-in for professional music production applications which processes audio signal in a way similar to analog valve equipment. By using Warmifier you can achieve valve warming and “console” coloration effects. Warmifier is applicable both to the complete mixes and to the individual instrument tracks. You have several parameters at your disposal that allow you to control the strength and the color of the effect. Also, you have several valve types to choose from. Each valve type offers a different overall coloration. While the effect of this plug-in is definitely subtle, the difference it makes is similar to the difference in sound between different analog mixing consoles. In most cases it boils down to adding a subtle “sparkle”, “presence”, “warming” or “solidifying” effect to a sound track it was applied to.

As a result, many singers get in the habit of either not warming up enough or “warming up” for so long that their voices are already experiencing signs of tiredness by the time the singers actually want to start singing. What’s more, these habits tend to carry over to when these singers become more advanced and they start dealing with more demanding music. In the video above, Robert Lunte answers a question about a hypothetical professional singer experiencing “rawness” and discomfort in their voice after only a few gigs in a row. In his answer, Maestro Lunte ultimately determines that the source of the singer’s problem is partially vocal technique and stamina management during warm up routines.
