Michael breaks down the interfaces and how these two amazing, analog sounding plug-ins can be used on several different types of instruments. The series starts off with Michael giving an introduction and quick overview on the preset nature of the two plug-ins. Next, Michael digs in and explains the controls and interface of the UBK-1 compressor. After explaining the unique signal flow between the UBK-1’s sections, Michael moves on to showing how this powerful plug-in can be used on drums, bass, acoustic guitar and on an entire mix. Next its on to the Clariphonic EQ. Michael gives us the full tour of the interface, discussing each control in-depth. There are many possibilities when using the Clariphonic EQ and its presets, and over the next few videos Michael moves on to showing how this amazing EQ can be used on a snare, three channel drum mix, acoustic guitar and bass.

This course will teach you how to understand some of the popular adjectives used to describe audio. This course consists of the explanations of popular adjectives used to describe audio. Dark – this means the signal sounds vintage, to understand what vintage sounds like listen to some old recording and study the tone. Dark sounding also falls under colored. Bright – this means the signal has more high frequencies. If you want to make something sound brighter add some high frequency to it. Bright being the opposite of dark can be great on some vocals. Clean – clean means your signal is pure and accurate. This is a modern sound, the opposite of vintage. For example a clean mic pre means it doesn’t change (or color) your sound. So what you put in is what you get back. Solid-state or transformerless is generally clean.
