In total, it includes four unique kits, one extra recorded kit configuration as well as several additional snares – all handpicked to ensure a width of tones that ranges from the rich, dark and boomy to the ringy, tight and snappy. To add, the kits were captured at a private high-end studio in the Los Angeles area boasting a massive-sounding but still not overpowering room, making it the perfect choice for loud rock drums that sound thunderously big but not drowned out by excessive ambience.

Funk Fusion EBX

This EZbass library was created with the aim of creating the perfect instrument to bridge the gap between two genres where the bass has been the rhythmic backbone since its inception: funk and fusion. The bass guitar in question is a flawlessly crafted modern instrument designed to deliver the highest standard of sound, dynamics and tonal depth. Since this bass guitar had to cope equally well with the intricacies of jazz and rock sounds, it was chosen from a number of instruments as it fit the bill perfectly. The sample was recorded using traditional fingerpicking and the quintessential slap technique, as well as an entirely new articulation for EZbass called lefthand mute. The latter will allow you to achieve a coherent and distinct performance, very reminiscent of an electric guitar mute and crucial to the sound of these genres.

If you’re looking for big, resonant kits that can handle the entire dynamic range from the subtle to the explosive and offer tones covering the bright, crisp, earthy and warm, this EZX is for you. The Fusion EZX was recorded by engineer Stefano Civetta (Nile Rodgers, Ed Sheeran, Earth, Wind and Fire) and drummer Pete Riley (Guthrie Govan, Keith Emerson, Richie Kotzen) at School Farm, a brand new state-of-the-art studio in Essex, England. With its SSL Duality console, stellar mic locker, 24 channels of Neve preamps and, most importantly, spacious but not overpoweringly reverberant live room, it was the perfect choice for capturing the vibrant energy of the drums in this EZX. In total, four unique kits are included, each handpicked, tuned and curated to offer its own niched tone and flair to the project. To add, one of the kits was recorded with two different drum head setups, essentially giving you a total of five completely different flavors of tone. Further, with the kits boasting seven toms each, extras such as side snares, octobans, cowbells, a gong bass drum, several extra kit pieces and a breadth of cymbals ranging from 6-inch splashes to 23-inch rides, stacks and chinas, this is an EZX that covers an enormous width.

The Modern Metal EZX was recorded by engineer/mixer/producer Will Putney at his own Graphic Nature Audio studios in New Jersey. Featuring five carefully captured kits, each handpicked for their unique tonal qualities, paired with Will Putney’s raw but still sonically immaculate production style, this EZX paints a unique document of hard-hitting, aggressive-sounding drums with a tangible edge, nerve and energy. In addition to the kits and the large assortment of cymbals, extra kicks and snares, the Modern Metal EZX also includes a comprehensive library of presets as well as a selection of MIDI grooves and fills designed for anything from heavy rock to death metal, hardcore and progressive metal. Ultimately, the Modern Metal EZX presents the embodiment of modern metal drums at their finest – fit for anything from hardcore to metal and any subgenre descriptor that may be wedged in between.

New Orleans v1.0.1 EZX

If you’re chasing the soul of drumming, all roads lead to New Orleans. This is the city where the drum kit as we know it was born, where jazz and funk first took shape and where rhythm has never been just a musical element – it’s the living pulse woven over centuries by African, Caribbean, French and Creole traditions, merging into that magical heartbeat we call groove. For this EZX, we traveled there to capture an all-encompassing drum library under the supervision of one of the city’s foremost experts on drumming, gear and groove: Terence Higgins (Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Dirty Dozen Brass Band). The New Orleans EZX was sampled by Terence Higgins himself and recorded by multi-award-winning engineer, producer and mixer Misha Kachkachishvili at his Esplanade Studios, one of the absolute hubs of today’s New Orleans recording circuit. Located in the vibrant Tremé neighborhood and housed in a completely remodeled 14,000-square-foot early 1900s church, it’s the largest recording studio in Louisiana. The main recording room in Studio A alone boasts a staggering 3,400-square-foot space with ceilings up to 26 feet high. Naturally, the ambience is awe-inspiring. For this recording, however, the drums were partially sectioned off using gobos to create a lively yet viscerally close feel.
