The Rathgar Pipe Organ is a beautifully sampled library that captures the authentic sound of the 100 plus years old organ from the Christ Chuch Rathgar, in the south of Dublin, Ireland. This unique library captures with detail all the character and nuance of this historical instrument. Preserving all the natural imperfections and all acoustic interactions of the sound of the organ in the church, bringing life to the instrument. The Rathgar Pipe Organ was sampled and programmed to replicate the experience of going to a church and being immersed and surrounded by the powerful and magical sound of the pipe organ. The library offers 2 mic positions (close and far) providing unique depth and control over the sound. It comes with 22 NKI instruments – 12 pristine natural patches and 10 processed creative patches – and various built-in effects. Alpha Organ features a beautifully sampled pair of pipe organs recorded individually and together at St. Paul’s Church in San Francisco, CA. Each organ offers a distinct contrast to the other and when the two are played simultaneously in unison, the sound is glorious. We’ve captured both instruments individually and together in unison, with multiple microphone types and positions to offer you a variety of aesthetic options. The “lower” organ, built by Kilgen Church Organ Company of Saint Louis, MO, was originally water-powered, but has since been converted to an electric blower-driven system. The console is in the south isle near the side entrance and its pipes are hidden behind the altar with the blower and machinery under the floor of the Apse, allowing the lowest pedal notes to resonate through the floor, seeming to shake the very foundation. The upper organ, far larger and more elaborate, was built by the Felix F. Shoenstein & Sons Organ company of San Francisco. It is arrayed high above the portcullis and Narthex in a mezzanine between the two bell towers. Where the first organ – our “Alpha” Organ – is sweet and silky in its tone, the second – our “Omega” Organ – is thunderous and mighty in its body and energy, with a more powerful blower, larger console and many more pipes.

The Hammond* organ is undoubtedly one of those. Since it was first introduced, it has fostered generations of new players and has had a profound impact on the development of anything from gospel, jazz and blues to funk, prog, rock and the many iterations of modern music of today. We are proud to add this icon of organs as an expansion for the EZkeys 2 format. For the sounds, the Toontrack team scoured the market for the most pristine, maintained and transparent organ from which all of its 91 spinning tonewheels were carefully sampled. In the final product, these recordings have been seamlessly merged with advanced modeling of both the organ’s tone and all its classic traits, like key clicks, percussion, vibrato and chorus. Add to that a flawless recreation of a quintessential rotary speaker and you have the utmost in extreme audio realism.
