Developing BLEASS Omega gave us the perfect opportunity to take a deep dive into the fascinating sonic capabilities of FM synthesis, and this sparked an innovative idea: A plugin that can apply the principles of frequency modulation to literally any source material. Where existing phase distortion plugins create their effect by using an audio input signal to modulate itself, BLEASS Phase Mutant takes things to an entirely new level with the addition of an oscillator that can modulate the input signal or be modulated by it. This allows BLEASS Phase Mutant to fully harness FM’s ability to create complex and colourful harmonic distortions, achingly expressive tonal variations, and fascinating sonic hooks.

Mutant Drums Vol.1 is a collection of 247 original drum samples consisting of loops/breaks and one shots. The key ingredient and goal when creating this kit was experimentation. Drum breaks with more edge. One shots with more character. Gear such as a 1970’s reel to reel tape machine, an old multitrack cassette deck and vintage outboard equipment for saturation and boost of sonic presence. Capturing natural ambiences in a Banyan tree cave while recording percussion loops was a highlight of the process. Layering natural textures, vocal chants, and other abnormal elements to help spark ideas. Giving drums their own world to live in is what we strive for with every kit.
