This is Module 1 of THE LOGIC PRO X MIXING COURSE FOR BEAT MAKERS where you will be learning several production techniques you can use in the production process to make it easier to mix your beats.
In-depth video tutorial series on the popular mixing technique “Top Down Mixing”! Learn all about this interesting and effective process, and why and how you should use it to mix your songs and productions. The individual tracks used in the video series are also included for you to download and follow along with in your DAW. Eli starts by welcoming you and then goes over why you should care about Top Down Mixing. He then plays the track you’ll be mixing together using this technique, and then goes over the mix track by track, showing you exactly what each track contains. Building a Static Mix is next, and you’ll see how to form the foundation for the Top Down Mix technique, as well as setting up a processing chain with the goal of enhancing the entire mix as a whole. See how tape saturation, EQ, multi-band compression, and stereo compression are used to paint the broad strokes and tighten up and glue the entire mix together.

Now that your audio and MIDI tracks are all recorded, you’re ready to start mixing… and producer and trainer Joshua Carney will show you how it’s done! In this comprehensive 25-tutorial course, you get the chance to see and hear Joshua as he mixes a full song right before your eyes using Studio One’s stock plugins exclusively. Joshua starts the course with an overview of Studio One’s mixer where he explains how to do a rough mix of your project. Next, you learn tips to handle bigger projects using grouping, busses and VCA channels. You discover how to polish up your productions using the built-in plugins such as the Pro EQ, Compressor, Open AIR (a very cool reverb plugin!), and Groove Delay. Once you understand the basics compression, EQ and other effects, Joshua explores the extremely useful Studio One’s Fat channel XT and demonstrates it on bass, drums, guitars, keys and vocals. Continuing with the course, you learn how to tune vocals with the included Melodyne Essential, how to automate your project, and how to fine-tune your mix before the final export!
In this video tutorial series, studio pro Larry Holcombe shows you how to mix a Pop Rock track with iZ plug-ins! See how to use an assortment of iZ’s amazing plug-ins to bring a track to life, resulting in a professional radio-ready mix. You also get the stems used in the tutorial to follow along with and mix on your system. Larry begins by welcoming you and then starts at the beginning, going over the steps to take to get Tonal Balance Control setup in your session, and then fixing any issues with individual tracks before you start mixing, plus figuring out your vision for the mix. Then it’s off to the races, and Larry explores and explains using Vocal Assistant on the Vocals, Pitch Correction with Nectar, EQing and Transient Shaping with Neutron, utilizing Track Assistant on different parts, and using Neutron’s compressor Detection Filters to compress only the parts of the signal that need it, and much more.
The objective of this mini-course is to give the viewer a better fundamental understanding of basic mixing concepts and techniques. We will use a project with many tracks (essentially an unmixed song) and begin by discussing gain staging and techniques for establishing a good volume balance between tracks (while maintaining a good amount of headroom on the master channel). From there we will discuss grouping tracks, subtractive EQing, panning, effective ways to control dynamics such as compression, and insert effects versus send effects. By the conclusion of this course the viewer will have a much better understanding of how to properly approach mixing their own music.
