The first of TIME & TIMBRE’s sections is a six­voice polyrhythmic and polymetric sequencer called (you guessed it) TIME. Taking the drum sequencer concept a few steps further, TIME not only lets you easily make and chain together patterns, add accents and rolls to individual steps, but also define sequence length and beat divisions freely and independently for each of its six channels. Another unique feature of TIME is the ability to apply swing to any notes in a pattern (not just 4ths, 8ths, 16ths), thus providing highly unusual and interesting varieties of ‘feel’ for your rhythms. TIME also includes four internal LFOs that can modulate anything within the device (or even any parameter in Live) and can be synced to follow the swing. Used together, TIME’s different parts can produce a near­ infinite range of unconventional grooves.

What is the Cat Growl Filter? The Cat Growl Filter is a multi-purpose FX Rack/Filter for Max for Live. It contains a series of FX modules that have been carefully programmed to provide a more aggressive filter sweep enhancing the ‘growl’ of the filter sweep. What Makes The Cat Growl Filter Unique? The Cat Growl Filter’s uniqueness comes from it’s custom, 2 channel filter, that enables the user to create special effects not heard in other filters. This is achieved by giving the user control over left and right channel and filter type. The Cat Growl Filter comes with 8 interchangeable filter types per channel. So you could use a resonant filter on the left channel, and on the right channel have a bandstop filter. These filters can either move in sync or independently from each other.

Spektro Komplex is a MaxforLive polyphonic synthesizer designed to create complex and unique sounds. Like the Buchla 261e module, Komplex uses two oscillators to produce FM sounds. What really makes this synth stand out is it’s habilities to morph the waveform of the first oscillator (carrier) and use a different waveform for the second oscillator (modulator). The frequency of the second oscillator (modulator) is calculated based on the operation: Oscillator 1 Frequency (operation) Ratio = Oscillator 2 Frequency For example: If the frequency of the first oscillator is 220Hz, the operation is set to multiplication, and the ratio is set to 2, the frequency of the second oscillator will be 440Hz. A variable offset can also be added to the resulting frequency. You can use Spektro Komplex to create anything from classic FM bass to metallic percussion sounds. It’s also a great tool for sound designer who want to create complex synthetic sounds.

EXT 2 is a Max For Live audio effect designed to modulate anything you want in Ableton Live: any control in other devices, in Live’s UI, and in any third party plug-in. EXT 2 is very easy to use: just click the “select” toggle, then click the parameter in your Ableton Live set to apply its step modulation. Target’s name is displayed in EXT 2′s UI, you can scale outcoming values to a specific range. EXT 2 add a bunch of new features: clicking the “envelope” toggle you can activate the step envelope mode, using three dedicated step sequencer to define step’s length, shape and peak direction.
