    Making Creative Keyboard Sounds

    FANTASTiC | 17 August 2021 | 453 MB

On this class I will teach how any keyboard player can make creative sounds using presets or even creating the sound from scratch. I will show examples of VSTs and types of sound they have, how to tweak the basic controls like envelopes for amp and filter, how to work with EQs and compression on these sounds if needed, how to work with plugins creatively like stutter and Leslie, working with effects like reverb and delay and lastly automations. This class is geared towards any musician who uses keyboard on projects and wants to create more unique, creative and fitting sounds for the music being worked on. It is required that the person has a least a basic knowledge on music, how to play keyboards and basics of sound synthesis (which I have a course covering this subject for beginners).

      Making Samples Your Own

      FANTASTiC | 29 October 2021 | 2.45 GB

With sampling techniques forming the basis of so much of today’s music, having a trusted sample collection to hand is a great way of speeding up your workflow and defining your sound. On this course from experienced producer and sound designer Seppa, you’ll learn an abundance of methods for modifying samples in various ways, to polish the sound or create completely unique textures of your own. The course begins by transforming a vocal sample into an atmospheric FX soundscape using parallel delay chains and spectral resonance, as well as a modified version that maintains more of the character of the original sample. A regular piano is then used as the source for a modulating, filtered lead, perfect for the intro or breakdown of a track. Seppa then builds an effects chain for processing various drum breaks, to tend to the dynamics, transients and spectral content, so they’re 100% ready for dropping into a track. On a more radical note, simple drum oneshots are run through multiple randomised devices to completely mix things up and produce endless captivating moments, ideal for making interesting fills and adding excitement to an arrangement.

Make yourself heard. Start making music with Logic Pro X. Author and Logic Pro insider walks through every facet of basic drum programming and beat making in Logic Pro, including choosing the right drum kit for the beat, recording, arranging, and quantizing. She shows off Drummer, the intelligent drum feature, for creating beats automatically. She then moves into Ultrabeat, Logic’s built-in drum machine, and shows how to step sequence, design your own sounds, use your own samples, and create glitchy effects with the instrument. Then Dot dives deeper into making beats. She demonstrates how to make your own Apple Loops, time-stretch, quantize, and regroove audio as well as how to best add swing to your beats, fatten your sounds with drum replacement, and slice your samples. She then focuses on techniques specific to electronic music, including warping a beat with Space Designer and making DJ turntable effects with speed fades, and some retro groove tricks, including creating a human drummer feel with the Transform Editor and editing gate time. Dot wraps up the course by looking at a few more of the new beat making features in Logic Pro X, including the Arpeggiator and other MIDI plugins.
