Invictus Guitar is an electric guitar library with two instruments: One with dry recordings and one amped containing around 5.7gb of samples each, an advanced pattern editor, a set of key switches for different sounds and more. The library consists of over 3500 individual recordings. Each of these recordings were hand edited to create approximately 1790 dual tracked samples. There are sixteen takes of each sound, combined into 8 stereo samples per sound. There are six different sounds and chords (5th Power chords, two alt chords, heavy and light palm mute and lead), a set of recordings for every semi-tone. Invictus contains a powerful pattern and phrase builder where you can assign different articulations and chords per step to create seamless and instant phrases.

Roland’s neat little SH-2000 monosynth was in some ways a pretty limited machine, built around a single oscillator plus a moderately squelchy filter circuit. Editing was very basic indeed: a series of 30 colourful tabs along the front edge of the instrument brought the onboard presets into play, while a little panel to the left of the keyboard offered rudimentary control over things like filter modulation, wow, ‘growl’ and portamento. Fiddling with these in real time while noodling away on the keyboard could yield some surprisingly cool effects.

Nuke Fallout, A versatile tool that is suitable for a wide variety of music. Developed with a focus on experimental sounds and found sounds that have been highly manipulated. Most presets are gritty, loud, aggressive, or “other-worldly” sounding but it still contains a lot of content that is mellow and softer.

“The Performachord” is a reed based instrument thats somewhat of a cross between an accordion, and an organ. It is also commonly known as a “Chord Organ”, among a couple other names. The left hand is played by “push down” buttons offering different voiceing’s including: Roots, Major, Minor, & Seventh. Although this may seem basic to some, with a little creativity, and a decent grasp of theory, one can actually create numerous chord voicings using a combination of these buttons alone.

Monopolyphonix was in many ways a celebration of another successful resurrection of an old classic saved from the grave. Much like the Minimoog, ARP Omni-2 and Novachord left their sonic fingerprints on S-VX and The Orbitone Collection, a recently restored Farfisa Syntorchestra manufactured in 1974, gave its all to the creation of Monopolyphonix… Why the name? Well the Syntorchestra comes from a strange era quite early on in the history of affordable portable synthesizers where manufacturers were quite experimental and tended to do their own thing. This was especially the case with early polyphonics. The net result is that weird and wacky user interfaces and synth architectures were quite the norm in those days!
