For all the classic synth courses Matt has shared with us, the King has yet to look at what is widely regarded as the King of synths – the mighty Minimoog! Over these ten videos, Matt shows us where it all started and then takes an in-depth look at some of the emulation software available of this iconic synth, including Softube’s brand new Model 72, to see how well they replicate the original and also how they might expand on the sound design potential the Minimoog has to offer. He also checks out how we can emulate that Minimoog vibe with our very own ANA 2 or other software synths you may already have in your arsenal. All of them have distinctive features that set them apart from the rest, but which one would you go for? Check it out!

Ableton’s ‘Collision’ is a unique physical modelling synth that replicates striking an item against another to create sound giving a very organic method of sound creation and design that can achieve some awesome results. Add in the effects version – ‘Corpus’ which activates or ‘resonates’ from the incoming audio of your choice, P-LASK shows us that there is a whole load of fun to be had with these seldom-used Ableton devices. Starting with an overview of the controls gives an easy-to-follow demonstration on how to use each of these plugins and as stock plugins go, these two can get some surprising results!

            SYNTHiC4TE | Dec 20 2016 | 738 MB

Here we proudly welcome back vintage synth royalty, King Unique. In this ‘How To Use’ tutorial, Matt shows us the intricate workings of three timeless organs modelled by Arturia – the Hammond B-3 , the Vox Continental, and the Farfisa Compact Deluxe. Firstly the B-3 – the most popular variety of Hammond, and the one still commonly in use today. If you’ve heard of the expression “Pulling out all the stops?” the drawbars on this organ are these very stops! It can all at once sound like a carnival, a big band, a horn section, a small jazz combo, a funk group, a percussion section, a flute, and/or countless other things. The Vox Continental is a transistor-based combo organ introduced in 1962. Used in many 1960’s hit singles, it still has a strong following to this day, and remains among the most sought-after of combo organs by enthusiasts. Here Matt shows us that it really does sound as good as it looks!
