    The Harpsichord, a keyboard sensation from the 16th to mid 18th century, once ruled European music. This versatile instrument was a star in both Renaissance and Baroque compositions, shining both as an accompanist and a soloist. We captured the piano and forte registers, glisses, slides, percussive impacts, plucks, scrapes and taps. The Harpsichord, a keyboard sensation from the 16th to mid 18th century, once ruled European music. This versatile instrument was a star in both Renaissance and Baroque compositions, shining both as an accompanist and a soloist. Distinctive in design, harpsichords typically boasted two or more sets of strings, each producing unique tones. The sound was amplified by a soundboard beneath the strings, which transmitted vibrations through a bridge. The strings were plucked with quills rather than struck with hammers, so a key could only produce one velocity.

    Microtape 2 Electric Harpsichord KONTAKT

    TEAM MAGNETRiXX | 21 April 2014 | 12.3 MB

    No.2 in the microtape series.

    Electric Harpsichord – Harpsichord preset from the Farfisa 110pro 1970’s portable organ. With 5 token presets, this isn’t designed as a synth, like Tronto for example, but as a player, with a virtual tape machine running all the time beneath the engine. You have 3 types of control (via the ‘Degrader’) over tape damage – via filter,amplitude or pitch, with a tape speed slider as well, so Boards of Canada style sounds are easily obtainable, or you can set the controls to zero to bypass the effect. There is a simple low pass filter (no resonance) that can be connected to velocity (as can amplitude) for instrumental expression, but also more interestingly is hard wired to the ADSR envelopes, so a slower attack also brings about a slower filter attack (if engaged), to emulate the tape head coming into contact with the tape (likewise with the release).

  • German Harpsichord 1741 MULTi

    EXS24 / HALion / KONTAKT

    …::: Edition Organeum :::…

    The German Harpsichord 1741 library features another rare German harpsichord built by Christian Zell in 1741. The instrument provides an elusive majestic texture and beautiful upper mid harmonics unlike any other harpsichord. Residing at the Organeum in the Northern Germany, the harpsichord is in excellent playable condition. The sample library features six sounds sampled seperately – the front and a rear 8′ stops, both together, the 4′, Lautenzug and the tutti combination. The Zell harpsichord is now available in the sampler in its Bach-Kellner tuning at 399 Hz (presets at 440 Hz are also available). Like all harpsichords, the instrument is not touch-sensitive like a piano. However, even if the differences are minuscule, not any given note will sound the same twice due to different resonances of body and strings. Up to now, many keyboards and samplers represented harpsichords by always triggering off the exact same digital sample, leaving a cold and sterile sounding impression. In order to pay tribute to the liveliness and depth of this antique instrument, we captured every sampled stop with eight variations per note (Lautenzug and 4′: four samples per note).

    The German Harpsichord 1738 library features one of the very few preserved historical German harpsichords, a very beautiful sounding instrument built by Christian Vater. The instrument – built in Hannover in 1738 – features very mellow low end and rich low mids, combined with majestic upper harmonics and a delicate treble range, which shows the German harpsichord tradition very well. Residing at the Germanische Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg, the harpsichord remains in great playable condition.

    Austrian Harpsichord MULTiFORMAT

    P2P | 29.06.2019 | 1.11 GB

    EXS24 / HAlion / KONTAKT

    The Austrian Harpsichord library features an instrument built by Johann Anton Miklis in 1671 in Prague (which belonged to Austria back then). Offering three sounds – 8′, 4′ register and the combination of both – it show the rich and slinky texture of Austrian-built instruments which Mozart would have known. Austrian Harpsichord Edition Beurmann MULTiFORMAT screenshotThe harpsichord still remains in well-playable condition despite its age. It is now available for your sampler, presented in its original Valotti-tuning at 392 Hz, capturing all three register variations – 8′, 4′ and both registers together. Presets at 440 Hz are also available. In its bass octave, the harpsichord does not feature a c-sharp note, as part of its design. We added “optimized” presets so it can be played regularly in the bass as well. Like all harpsichords, the instrument is not touch-sensitive in the sense of a piano. However, not any given note will sound exactly the same twice due to different resonances of body and strings. Up to now, many keyboards and samplers represented harpsichords by repeating the exact same digital sample. In order to avoid the problem, we captured the sampled registers with 8 variations (4′: 4 variations) of each note. The key release sounds are also of major importance: We recorded 4 release samples per note.
