The EastWest/Quantum Leap Hollywood Harp virtual instrument is a library designed to work together seamlessly with the Hollywood Orchestra series. While it includes the same number of microphone positions, and many of the same features, there is a key difference outlined below. The microphone configuration is designed for solo instruments, as opposed to a full orchestra. Instead of the surround and vintage surround microphone positions used in the Hollywood Orchestra series, the Hollywood Solo Cello supplements the close and mid microphone positions with vintage alternatives.

The Grand Harp or better known as Concert Harp or Pedal harp is a large modern harp, designed primarily for classical music. The Grand Harp is a descendant of ancient harps such as a Celtic Nylon Harp. The harp found its early orchestral use as a solo instrument in concerti by many baroque and classical composers. It began to be used in symphonic music by Hector Berlioz. The Grand Harp has a wide range of tones which is six and a half octaves (47 strings) starting typically from C 1 and ends up at G 7. The lowest strings are made of copper or steel-wound nylon, the middle-lower strings of gut, and the middle to highest of nylon, or more or all gut.

EZkeys Hybrid Harp presents five individual instruments, all layered, textured and saturated in various capacities to form unique and never-before-heard hybrids of sounds. The undisputed star of the group is an iconic Style 23 harp. In addition to this, a traditional Swedish nyckelharpa (or “keyed fiddle”), two harmoniums, a bowed glockenspiel and a set of ocarinas were sampled. Combined, this seemingly odd group of instruments – that in logical terms have no earthly business sharing the same sonic space – culminate in what must be described as a vastly puzzling audio universe of plucking, percussive, soaring, airy, beautiful and ever-so-slightly dissonant sounds.

A unique wooden Harp with an alternative and warm sound

The “Tyrolean Harp” is a relatively unknown wooden Harp only existing within the alpine region. Compared to a standard concert harp, it has more warmth to it and a “wooden” sound character. It was recorded in 96kHz, features three different playing styles, up to four dynamic ranges, three different microphone systems (close: A-B & M/S; room: A-B) and comes with a total of 3394 samples (15 GB uncompressed). Moreover, it is licensed with Native instruments and therefore NKS & Kontakt Player (Free) compatible.
