This sampled concert grand piano was crafted by the Zürich-based company Hüni & Hübert in the year 1860. Its timeless, elegant design is reflected by a beautifully full-bodied, transparent, warm tone with raunchy bass, something which is very hard to find in modern pianos. Recorded with 32 velocity layers, with eight samples per key release and damper movement, this sample library for HALion takes you on a musical journey through time. The historical Swiss Grand was an integral component of a collection curated by musicologist Andreas Beurmann (1928-2016), which has been meticulously preserved in excellent condition. It was recorded on location using a specialized signal chain, including a custom-made set of tube microphones. It was captured at 192 kHz/24 bit and resampled to 48 kHz. It’s presented for the first time as a sample library at its original tuning pitch of 437 Hz, yet offers the flexibility of pitch adjustments within the instrument.

ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT Spotlight Piano follows on from our highly regarded series of “character pianos” (Woodchester Piano, Midnight Grand, Glacier Keys). Drawing upon our countless hours of experience sampling pianos in recent years, we set out to create the ultimate scoring piano. We returned to the same hall as Midnight Grand and Glacier Keys, and captured the same glorious Steinway D Concert Grand – this time in its pure form (without the felt, cotton or extended techniques of our previous pianos) but still retaining Fracture Sounds’ sonic signature and ease-of-use, and with even more detail and nuance than our previous pianos. Spotlight Piano was designed with delicate, emotional, cinematic scoring in mind, but with its plethora of intuitive sonic shaping and performance tweaking controls, in addition to the 21 carefully curated presets included, this concert grand will fit comfortably into a wide range of musical styles.

These are two great pianos from EWQL Colossus and their custom library. (All separate downloads!) This is Kontakt 5.3 instrument. It will not work with any earlier versions of Kontakt. Instrument samples are compressed. Instruments use 33 (Yamaha) and 98 (Fazioli) MB of RAM alone. Do not use much cpu and the modulation wheel is not assigned to anything.
