Drum MIDI inspired by UK dance music. For decades, the UK has been at the very forefront of producing new and innovative acts, playing a defining role in shaping the sound of electronic dance music as we know it. In this MIDI pack, we throw ourselves headfirst into its vast magnetic forcefield of monotonously trance-like, syncopated and offbeat grooves. Expect a collection of raw beat material that touches on all the signifying traits of anything from drum & bass, dubstep, jungle, garage and grime. This MIDI pack was created primarily for use with our more electronic-centric EZX and SDX expansions and, as such, may render some off-kilter instrument choices and note stacking if played back with a regular set. However, as always with MIDI, you’re in the driver’s seat – slice, dice, mix, match, move and rearrange to come up with your very own renditions. Comprising 40 “songs” and more than 350 individually created parts in tempos ranging all the way from 90 up to 185 BPM, you’ll have no shortage of options. The Fusion EZX was recorded by engineer Stefano Civetta (Nile Rodgers, Ed Sheeran, Earth, Wind and Fire) and drummer Pete Riley (Guthrie Govan, Keith Emerson, Richie Kotzen) at School Farm, a brand new state-of-the-art studio in Essex, England. With its SSL Duality console, stellar mic locker, 24 channels of Neve preamps and, most importantly, spacious but not overpoweringly reverberant live room, it was the perfect choice for capturing the vibrant energy of the drums in this EZX. In total, four unique kits are included, each handpicked, tuned and curated to offer its own niched tone and flair to the project. To add, one of the kits was recorded with two different drum head setups, essentially giving you a total of five completely different flavors of tone. Further, with the kits boasting seven toms each, extras such as side snares, octobans, cowbells, a gong bass drum, several extra kit pieces and a breadth of cymbals ranging from 6-inch splashes to 23-inch rides, stacks and chinas, this is an EZX that covers an enormous width.

The Twisted Kit was designed and sampled by Michael Blair, a percussionist with a highly personal instrument set-up, most known for his work with Tom Waits, Lou Reed and Elvis Costello. It was recorded at the Toontrack Studio and comes with a massive collection of percussive elements. This EZX crosses over boundaries of genres like industrial, blues, ethnic and orchestral to form a unique collection of replacement percussion that should add a new flavor in any songwriter’s creative palette. Welcome to the world of Twisted Kit, where there is nothing remotely odd about having a duck call as an alternative cowbell, mounting the hubcap of a car on top of your snare or having rototom frames form a tonal hi-hat.
