    Betelgeuse Zebra2 SOUNDSET

    P2P | 18 Dec 2020 | 1.26 MB

Betelgeuse is a brand new soundset of 150 patches for u-he’s Zebra2 synth. Betelgeuse is a collection of malevolent, dramatic and damaged sounds. A well balanced blend of organic and synth sounds specially designed for widescreen scores. Betelgeuse is the darkest collection for Zebra2 inspired by the music of Ben Frost (Dark), Hildur Gudnadottir (Chernobyl), Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (Stranger Things) and Charlie Clouser (Saw). Betelgeuse also uses pitch shifting techniques to bring that slightly unstable and drifting analogue feel.  Blood pounding basses and basslines, suspenseful percussion loops, dramatic leads and pads, deep infernal soundscapes, dynamic and intriguing emotive sequences, sinister keys and mallets going out of tune, an amalgam of bizarre noises infused with tension and drama which are a delight for cinematic compositions.

Uranium: Modular Cinematics 2. Uranium: Modular Cinematics takes us back to the days when synthesizers were the exclusive playthings of lab-coated scientists and tweed-coated academics. Hunkered down in the fluorescence of university music department basements, they coyly spun the dials on literal tons of gear—transformers, tubes, oscilloscopes—but not a computer in sight. Difference and repetition were emerging as transgressive symbols of absolute freedom.  Musique concrète was showing up on Beatles records. Hitchcock’s hyperreal synthetic birds brought on the night terrors. Uranium: Modular Cinematics is rooted in that era, with bowed strings, sustained cymbal textures, abstracted acoustic instruments, natural element sounds, and of course the massive presence of the mighty modular synthesizer. Producer Quincas Moreira has the kind of artistic restraint that allows producers to step back and let musical instruments speak simply, in their own voices, unburdened by undue human interference. The results are reflected in sonic environments that can inform and influence listeners’ subjective perceptions and emotional landscapes in a detached and unobtrusive way. Always natural and never forced, the 52 loops contained in Modular Cinematics harbor as many interpretations as there are situations.

Fission A is a new library for Kontakt 6 and is inspired by works of Hildur Guðnadóttir and specially her soundtrack for the outstanding HBO serie Chernobyl. Ever since watching the first minutes of the Chernobyl serie I was drawn to its sound universe and I started recording and creating magesy sounds for a project inspired by this. Now a few months further this has resulted in the Fission A and B libraries. I created 200 soundsources from recordings of an old cello, a bassoon, some flutes, a few bass guitars, a piano, from my guitars, from field recordings and sounds that I created within various synths. I mangled all the sounds to create a dark atmosphere.
