The Composer Cello is a suite of organic Cello instruments paired with a carefully curated set of inspirational analogue pads for Kontakt. The Composer Cello has been created using the beguiling musicianship of one of the UK’s leading session cellists. At the heart of this instrument are 3762 meticulously crafted samples, recorded at Kinema Audio’s renowned 1600sq foot Studio 1. The instrument also includes 9 complimentary analogue pads crafted to underscore and support your Cello compositions. All patches have 3 controllable mic positions: Center, Stereo and Room. The Analogue Pads are also multi mic’d with Dry, Room and Verb control.

Introducing The Intimate Legato Bundle, a professional solo string sample collection featuring a beautifully captured, natural sounding legato performed on violin and cello by virtuoso musicians, Peter Liang and Nicholas Trygstad. With a wonderfully raw and life-like sound, this library makes it easy to create realistic and emotional melodic lines. Built for the free Kontakt Player, The Intimate Legato Bundle was recorded in a small church hall with a variety of microphone positions to capture the detail of the instruments and the room. The library features a host of useful controls such as a “Rebowing” keyswitch, legato intensity and legato volume sliders, multiple microphone positions and a host of reverb presets, filters and distortions.

Ripple Cello v1.2.0 KONTAKT

A library of playable two-note slurs for creating expressive string textures. Play overlapping pairs of notes within a perfect 4th of each other to trigger the two-note slurs, or “ripples”. On string instruments, there’s a kind of energy and life you can put into the sound as you travel between two notes, especially if you play them in a single bow stroke. You can lean into the first note expressively, and then let the second note fold into the release of the first note so that they sound like one gesture. If these notes were recorded separately, then stitched together later, it wouldn’t have the same nuance. It’s gratifying to play these two-note slurs across different dynamics. To capture this feeling, the samples are all recorded as swells. At the beginning of the swell, the second note can be played so lightly that the pitch is hardly perceptible. It’s like a ghost note. Then, as the sound grows, the slurs naturally change and adapt to keep it fresh.

Recorded with the extremely talented Joni Fuller, each string instrument was multi-sampled across 3 octaves with multiple velocity layers, multiple round robins and 8 different articulations. All recordings were made in a very tight room, using the same setup used to record the strings in our popular Unstrung library. The performance of each articulation is very aggressive, played with tension and horror cues in mind and leaving the beautiful imperfections in place to give you a very realistic and raw sound. To add extra grit, we multi sample an extra 3 octave layer of noisy, screechy, beautifully hideous notes for each of the 3 articulations: Spiccatissimo, Spiccato, Staccato. Each of the other articulations can also choose to overly any of these extra aggression layers to give them harder attacks and unique sound combinations.
