In this video tutorial series dance music guru Laurence Holcombe shows you how to polish your dance track, giving it that extra pump and sheen to really stand out amongst the sea of EDM tracks. Laurence starts by giving you a guided tour of his favorite mastering tools, and how mastering for clubs differs from other forms of audio mastering. He goes on to show you how to prepare your mixdown for mastering, using hi-pass filters for clean low end and a little compression. Laurence now gets into the nitty gritty with a video showing you how to use EQ to fix balance problems, then it’s on to compression and multiband harmonic excitation. With the track sounding stellar and the harmonics happening, it’s time to work on the stereo imaging.
