    Vintage Rhythm Section is a virtual instrument for Kontakt 5 designed to emulate the classic rhythm section sounds of R&B, Soul, Funk, Jazz, and Rock records from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Vintage Rhythm Section (VRS) is easy to use, with a simple interface that lets you work quickly and intuitively. If you’re producing retro or indie-style music on a budget, or if you’re a TV or film composer working on a tight deadline, VRS can be used to create live-sounding drums, bass, guitar, keyboard, and percussion tracks. CAPTURING THAT VINTAGE RHYTHM SECTION SOUND: Like its sister-products, Vintage Horns and Vintage Strings, Vintage Rhythm Section was not designed to be a shiny, perfect-sounding virtual instrument. Instead, we tried to capture the way rhythm sections sounded back in the 60’s and 70’s, including some of the minor imperfections that added character to those instruments and made them sound so good. For VRS, we sampled a large collection of vintage instruments – some amazingly still in mint condition, and others looking every bit as “vintage” as you’d expect a piece of 40-50 year-old gear to look.

    We set out to make the most authentic mid 80s Electro Funk sample collection currently available. To do this we went back to the original machines, technology and production techniques used by artists and producers of the era.  I once worked for DMC UK – a company who in the 90s pioneered remix culture. One part of my studio duties was to transfer the master recording tapes from 2inch analog tape onto DAT for worldwide remixers. During that time I learned so much about record production by listening and experiencing so many of the world-class multitrack recordings that passed through our transfer studio

The Baker Brothers have never been afraid of getting their hands dirty with a little Grit and Grease. After more than 13 years in the game of funk and soul, the band are now gaining veteran status on the world scene for their fluid melodies and grooves. Fresh from touring a busy schedule of festival shows this summer, and about to embark on there 11th Japanese tour the band was all set to start on their 11th studio album but we intercepted them and put the gig ready band into the studio and hit record for this sample pack.
