A DISTINCTIVE sampling CD collection for the cutting-edge artist involved with: mainstream, electronica, alternative, experimental, dance choreography, film, theater, rap, or performance art. This sampling collection doesn’t have much in common with traditional vocal sample CDs. You won’t find cliche clips – “oohs and ahhs” or retro-syncopated robotic voices on these discs. Although the human voice is the sound source for each sample, the intent was to design the clips stylistically, but foremost as uncommon expressions and instruments. Where the verbal phrases are clearly understood they were chosen for their metaphorical/suggestive nature rather than literal meaning. Voice Fusions explores the evocative nature of the human voice & it’s synthesis with technology.

The Voice Fusions sampling collection evolved from three notions:

• 1) Voice Synthesizing
• 2) Language as music, and
• 3) Voice Explorations.

Voice Synthesizing this concept comes from the idea of a synthesizer with oscillator waveforms derived entirely from the human voice. The idea was to develop “patches” which could be created from such a synth. Just a few of the categories which utilize this approach are: Ambient Textures, Granulation, and Scitter Scat. Language as music in this section the words are generally understood but the expressions are not your typical vocal sample phrases. While some are more metaphorical, thought provoking or puzzling, others are ordinary in an extra ordinary way. Example categories are: Statements, Poetry, Media Mix, and Old Time. Voice Explorations – the form and shape or suggestive nature of the sample is the focus here: new words, new phrases and rhythms think of the likes of Cocteau Twins, Susan Dehim, scat singing from another planet, and stylistically, Mouse on Mars or Autechre. Category examples include: New World Phrases, Soul Sauce and Shaman Signs.
