trackCaster is similar to CUTmaster and tripleDAT, but provides a couple of advantages: i.e. trackCaster is independent of the used audio hardware (sound card) and runs under Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. It is possible to insert VST effects, setup multichannel recordings and playbacks, integrate trackCaster in common databases, and much more. Single audio-clips can be imported via drag&drop from the Windows Explorer, an audio CD or the DIGAS database to any of the multiple audio tracks or the clipboard. trackCaster recognizes a majority of audio formats.

The imported audio-clips can be arranged in multiple tracks. Among others there are edit-operations like trimming of the beginning and the end of the clips, editing volume, pan, fades and crossfades between clips.

Audio-clips can also be recorded with the internal recorder.

The Clip Mixer allows adjustment of volumes of selected clips. In addition, a normalisation of levels is possible here.

The Effects-Interface supports using of available VST plug-Ins. This add-on With that, trackCaster comes with basic effects of the danish manufacturer Kjaerhus Audio.
