BDL have produced some very interesting free plug-ins, first we had the Bark of Dog plug-in which is a free Voice Of God type of plug-in, and then more recently they brought us Panipulator, a very useful plug-in for handling routing issues in stereo tracks and checking stereo mixes. Now they have brought out another interesting plug-in which has a working title of Tilty Wility. This is what they say about it… Tilty Wilty is a tilt EQ, which is a great tool for quickly adjusting the brightness/darkness of your tracks. It uses a special filter that does not have any of the wonky side effects to your high end that most digital filters have. No matter what sample rate you are using, Tilty Wilty will give you a smooth natural curve right up to Nyquist frequency. You may be wondering why this plug-in has such a dumb name and ugly interface. This is by design, we are working on a bigger better version, but we wanted to get this into your hands now.

PreAMPed is an audio plugin that recreates many of the qualities of analog preamplifiers. This includes subtle EQ response curves, low- and high- frequency saturation, differences between left and right signals, crosstalk, noise, transformer/coil impulse response, and saturation and EQ changes due to gain changes.

Largo is the first pure software synthesizer with Waldorf DNA. Largo mirrors the technology used in Blofeld and Q hardware synthesizers. As with every Waldorf instrument, ergonomics are a core feature on screen as well. Your eyes will be pleased with a clearly structured, graphical user interface that supports your workflow intuitively. Largo offers three fat oscillators, two of them with sub oscillators. These oscillators include models of classic analog waveforms as well as a selection of waves from the PPG and Waldorf Wave stored in two Wavetables. All these run through two Waldorf multi-mode filters with steep cut-off, resonance up to self-oscillation and a drive stage to add even more punch and graininess to the sound. Ultra-fast envelope generators and flexible LFOs as well as an easy to understand, yet extremely versatile modulation matrix make for a sound designer’s dream.

CurveEQ is a spline equalizer for professional music and audio production applications. CurveEQ shows you the actual filter response you are designing by means of a spline (a smooth curvy line), so you can actually see what the EQ is doing with the sound. This, in turn, allows you to get the best from your mix and your tracks. CurveEQ perfectly suits the needs of mastering, and in some cases CurveEQ is suitable for use as an in-track equalizer.

PHA-979 is a professional audio AU and VST plugin which allows you to apply an arbitrary phase shift to sound material. What is meant by the phase shift here is simultaneous shifting of all frequencies across the active frequency range of the signal by the given value in degrees. This is achieved by linear-phase design. PHA-979 is useful during mixing sessions, especially when working with the sound material recorded through an array of microphones. In many cases this allows you to solve various phasing problems arising from the microphone placement chosen during the tracking session. In other cases this process may help you to align drums and other instruments to each other bringing punch and time coherence not attainable by the ordinary time-aligning alone. Beside the phase shifting, PHA-979 features positive and negative time delaying that eliminates the need to move in-track events in the sequencer when doing time alignment over any set of recorded tracks. PHA-979 also provides mid/side channel balance and panning controls that permit you to record stereo microphone pairs into a single stereo track without resorting to dual mono recording (on separate tracks) which usually becomes time-consuming in a further editing.
