A simple, step by step guide to understanding compression – what it is, how it works, and how to use it to shape and transform the sound of your tracks. How many times have you found yourself randomly tweaking some compressor, not really sure whether you’re actually making the sound better or worse?? (I know, I’ve been there!) The problem is, there’s just so many controls to think about! – Threshold, ratio, attack, release, knee, etc. – it can quickly get very frustrating. Been meaning to go against the clock to make a beat for the longest time. First effort is here! I actually liked this a lot. I admit 100% I didn’t realize how fast that 15 minutes would go. I did ZERO preparation, planning, scripting…none. So it came out ok, considering. The only rule I set for myself is that I’d use Ableton Packs only, because I felt I’d need some frames for it. Let me know if you’d like to see more; I def feel like I want to explore this avenue much more!
